I make original art quilts using fabric collage, completed with dense stitching. My current Trees series is inspired by the experience of first getting glasses at age 10. I didn’t know the individual branches were visible, and I have been fascinated by tree silhouettes ever since. As the series has progressed I have worked to abstract and simplify tree shapes, creating fluid, dance-like imagery. I enjoy using commercial fabrics in unexpected ways. I cut large-scale motifs and scatter them throughout the work to encourage the viewer to look closely.
